Kansas casinos are few in number, but there are enough of them if you want to add gambling to your Kansas vacation itinerary. The bulk of the casinos in Kansas are Native American owned, though new state-owned casinos have been slated to appear on the scene in recent years. Various things have led to the cancellation of some of the projects that included new Kansas casinos, and as is true in any state, it's not easy to get new casinos approved and completed. While planned developments like the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino at the Kansas Speedway have gone under, places like the new Boot Hill Casino and Resort in Dodge City are doing well to make gambling in Kansas more enjoyable. Time will tell when it comes to just how many Kansas casinos will spring up on the horizon, and you can currently get your fill of gaming action on a Kansas visit if that's on your list of things to do.

Boot Hill Casino and Resort

Construction on the Boot Hill Casino and Resort in Dodge City commenced in 2008, and the project aims to bring a first class resort and casino to the state of Kansas. The Boot Hill Casino will rival the larger kinds of casinos that can be found on the Missouri side of Kansas City, and if you can't make it to Las Vegas, these casinos are among the best in the land. Harrah's North Kansas City Hotel and Casino is one of the top Kansas City casinos, and you can easily access it and others when staying on the Kansas side of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. As for the casinos in Kansas proper, there are five Native American establishments that are currently open to the public. These casinos are generally open around the clock and they offer an array of games to choose from, including blackjack, roulette, poker, and bingo. One of the casinos in Kansas can be found on the Kansas side of Kansas City, and it's the Wyandotte 7th Street Casino. This newer casino boasts 20,000 square feet of gaming space and more than 500 gaming machines. The Wyandotte 7th Street Casino features a restaurant and lounge on its first floor, so you can enjoy a meal or a few drinks when your not enjoying some gaming action.

Prairie Band Casino and Resort

If you want to do your Kansas gambling at a casino establishment that also features a hotel, the Prairie Band Casino and Resort (pictured at top) might be for you. Almost 300 rooms and suites are on offer at the Prairie Band hotel, and they are pretty upscale in nature. As for the casino here, it is almost 35,000 square feet in size and boasts more than 1,000 gaming machines and just over 30 table and poker games. There are several different restaurants to choose from as well at the Prairie Band Casino and Resort, which can be found just outside of Topeka. The Golden Eagle Casino is another excellent destination for anyone who is interested in doing some Kansas gambling, and it can be found north of Topeka near the smaller city of Horton. This 24-hour casino features 45,000 square feet of gaming space, almost 800 gaming machines, and two dozen poker and table games. You can break from your Kansas gambling action at one of the Golden Eagle's two restaurants.

The northeast part of the state is definitely where you will want to head if you are looking for casinos in Kansas, and the Sac and Fox Casino is just one more that deserves a look in the area. The lively Sac and Fox Casino is large at 106,000 square feet, and you'll have 800 gaming machines, 15 table and poker games, 2 restaurants, and a bar at your disposal if you choose to visit here. When visiting northeast Kansas cities like Topeka and Lawrence, the Casino White Cloud rounds out your choices for nearby Kansas casinos. Not only can you enjoy the 360 gaming machines and 7 table games at the 21,000 square foot casino here, but you can also bet on sporting events and grab a bite to eat in the onsite restaurant.

Casinos In Dodge City Kansas

Kansas gambling isn't limited to the casinos in Kansas, as there are a couple horse and dog tracks in the state as well. One of these tracks, which is called Anthony Downs, can be found southeast of Wichita in Anthony. The other horse and dog tracks in Kansas are found east of Wichita in Eureka. Watching greyhound dogs race is an extra special treat in Kansas, as the sport is highly-revered in the state. In Abilene, for example, you can learn all about greyhound dogs and their racing history at the Greyhound Hall of Fame. This museum is certainly among the more unique Kansas attractions.
